After struggling with depression as an adolescent, I decided that I wanted to help people through offering counselling services. I am passionate about offering clients a caring and safe environment to explore life’s challenges and move towards their goals.
Life is full of challenges and many of us can use help and assistance navigating through these challenges. I am passionate about helping all people live their best and happiest life. I have completed several courses related to strengthening and building relationships and want to help those needing to repair or strengthen their relationships.
As a former high school teacher I have an affinity for working with adolescents, especially those struggling with emotional challenges from learning challenges.
ACT posits that psychological flexibility leads to mental and emotional well being. I use ACT to help clients navigate challenges such as depression, anxiety, and grief.
This approach is based on the research of John Gottman, a world-renowned expert in predicting divorce. I have completed Levels 1 and 2 certification from the Gottman Institute, as well as Gottman courses in trauma and betrayal.
CBT is the most researched counselling approach and is effective at helping with a myriad of challenges. I have found CBT particularly helpful for clients experiencing phobias and social anxiety.
SFT posits that individuals have the capabilities they need to solve their problems. I have adopted an SFT perspective in my practice, emphasizing the strengths that clients bring to the challenges they are facing.
CFT emphasizes kindness to oneself to help overcome negative self-talk. Compassion can actually help us access courage to face our challenges.
